The EU Construction Products Regulation No. 305/2011 is in force since 1 July 2013. It outlines the requirements for the assessment, manufacture, assembly, and conformity marking of structures according to the applicable harmonized European standard EN 1090-1/-2.
Manufacturers of steel or aluminum structural components which fall within the scope of EN 1090, are mandated to comply with the requirements for conformity assessments, as well as the technical assessments. The mandate for compliance and certifications are effective since 1 July 2014.
Since the ratification of EN 1090, products must carry the CE Marking label as a sign for compliance with all applicable standards/specifications. Further, the CE Marking is a statement that the manufacturer implemented a production control (assurance) systems that addresses and supports all process that apply to the product realization processes. These may include cutting, forming, machining, welding, bolting, or corrosion protection.
